Khawar Hussain’s entry into the gelato industry was inspired by his passion for the product, the untapped market potential, and the promising return on investment. With a background in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) sector, Khawar recognised the opportunity for gelato to captivate the palates of Londoners and tourists. His journey began after visiting an Amorino store in Paris, sparking a passion for artisanal gelato, and leading to a partnership with Amorino Franchise.

"I come from a 2nd generation 40-year-old QSR Franchise business. We exited in December 2022 at which point the business was turning over £15m and had over 300 people working. Amorino stood out to me due to its central supply chain from Paris, the brand’s organic and sustainable growth, and the absolute importance of retaining product quality and consistency."

Upon returning to London, Khawar wasted no time in reaching out to Amorino’s Master Franchisee, Hubert Attali. What began as a chance encounter blossomed into a fruitful collaboration, characterised by open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to excellence. Drawn to Amorino’s franchise central supply chain from Paris, as well as the brand’s ethos of organic and sustainable growth, Khawar knew he had found the perfect fit for his entrepreneurial aspirations. With a keen eye on Franchise expansion plans and the bright future offered by the brand’s success stories, Khawar was excited to embark on this new venture with Amorino.

Since becoming a franchisee seven years ago, Khawar has witnessed Amorino’s meteoric rise, fueled by strategic expansion and unwavering dedication to quality. With locations dotting Southeast England and parts of London, Amorino has become synonymous with indulgence and innovation, captivating the hearts and taste buds of gelato enthusiasts far and wide. Khawar’s accomplishments include the successful launch of the Greenwich location at the end of 2023, alongside the established presence of Camden for several years. Looking ahead, Khawar has ambitious plans to establish new outlets in Canterbury, Lakeside, and Tunbridge Wells this year, followed by an additional three stores for the following year. Embracing the growth opportunities in the franchise sector, Khawar is excited to drive forward Amorino’s expansion plans and bring the brand’s unique gelato experience to even more communities.

Yet, like any entrepreneurial endeavour, Khawar’s journey has not been without its challenges. From navigating the complexities of funding to managing seasonality fluctuations, he has encountered obstacles along the way. However, through resilience, resourcefulness, and guidance from the Amorino franchise team, Khawar has overcome these challenges, emerging stronger and more determined than ever.

A crowning achievement in Khawar’s franchisee success journey came with the signing of the Developers Agreement, a milestone that underscored his integral role in shaping the brand’s future in the UK. Honoured to be entrusted with developing key regions, Khawar remains grateful for the ongoing support and collaboration of Amorino’s franchise development team, including Casper Doorten and Roman Aslamzada.

For those interested in Amorino franchise opportunities, investing in a franchise, or looking for success stories of Amorino franchisees, Khawar’s journey serves as a testament to the potential for growth and development within the brand. With a commitment to excellence and a focus on quality, Amorino offers a rewarding opportunity for those seeking to franchise with a successful and expanding brand.
