The inspiring story behind CareYourWay Chester and its extraordinary growth

Perfectly illustrating this is Becky Roberts, the simply incredible driving force behind our Chester franchise.

Becky’s journey with us is a shining example of how commitment, shared family values, and unrelenting support can lead to creating a truly special business in a very short space of time.

Realising the dream of providing outstanding care

Before enquiring about becoming a franchisee, Becky worked as a Registered Manager for another home care provider. However, she was cruelly dismissed from this role in December 2022 following a cancer diagnosis.

Becky’s innate strength and determination saw her face these unexpected challenges head on. Running a home care business was something she’d always dreamed of doing, and nothing was going to put a stop to that.

Within weeks beginning treatment, Becky took the first steps to opening a franchise with us.

“I believe outstanding care needs to be provided by the community,” says Becky. “And I have always wanted to run a business where quality care for clients was mirrored in how you treat your staff.

“CareYourWay ticked every box from the first moment. They were so welcoming and understanding that I didn’t even need to look anywhere else. Their family values and commitment to always going above and beyond matched my own.”

Getting started with CareYourWay

Becky’s journey officially started in January 2023 and she immediately felt the benefits of our comprehensive franchisee training and onboarding process.

Despite challenges during setup, such as transitioning to a new territory, our franchise support team ensured Becky was always equipped with everything needed to successfully establish the business.

“The support was phenomenal from the moment we signed up,” explains Becky. “The onboarding process was seamless, even with elements being moved online at the last minute due to COVID. There was always someone available to come and visit, or on the other end of the phone to guide us.”

This level of support enabled Becky and her partner and co-director, Ieuan, to confidently take their first steps as franchise owners. In November 2023, CareYourWay Chester received their CQC accreditation and attention turned to launching the business.

Making an impact from day one

CareYourWay Chester officially launched in January 2024 – although such was the anticipation for their services, the first client was secured before the doors even opened.

Hands-on support was provided throughout the launch process, including developing connections between Becky and Ieuan and Age UK.

After establishing themselves within the community, word about the quality, empathetic home care they were providing soon spread. Within two months, enquiries began flooding in.

Remarkable growth in the first year

CareYourWay Chester’s story since has been one of truly remarkable growth.

By prioritising quality care and building strong relationships with the community, Becky and Ieuan’s numbers are staggering for a franchise that is just 12 months old.

They have grown to become a team of 23 staff and carers, who deliver more than 1,800 hours of care per month. Those numbers are only increasing too, as Becky explains.

“Our reputation has just grown and grown, primarily through word of mouth. We’ve spent very little on marketing because the quality of the home care we provide speaks for itself.

“Demand is so high that we now have hundreds of hours’ worth of client care enquiries waiting to fulfil. We currently have six new carers undergoing training to meet this demand.

“We are very picky with recruitment as we only hire the very best and most caring staff. We are never willing to compromise on the care we deliver just so we can say yes to everyone.”

How CareYourWay’s head office team has supported growth

The support from CareYourWay’s head office has been instrumental in navigating challenges and fostering growth.

Becky recalls one instance where unexpected staff shortages arose over a weekend.

“We contacted them and even though it was a weekend, Giles Sabater and the team stepped in immediately to help us navigate this challenge and recruit trusted carers quickly to ensure we met all our commitments.

“You can always rely on the head office team to put a smile on your face. They really do treat everyone as if they are 100% part of the family. They celebrate every milestone with us – they even visited us with cake for the business’ first birthday!

“I know I can pick up the phone and someone will always be there, whether it’s to rant about something, ask a question, or if I just want a smile put on my face. Sometimes that even means having a Taylor Swift singalong!

“They are our rock, genuinely.”

Growing sustainably for a strong, exciting future

As CareYourWay Chester looks ahead, Becky and Ieuan have ambitious plans to continue their sustainable growth.

With the team soon growing to almost 30 staff, they have a goal of delivering 2,500 hours of care per month by September 2025.

To achieve this, their focus remains on providing exceptional service while embedding themselves further into the community.

Exciting upcoming plans include hosting a monthly community café and participating in local events to strengthen ties.

“For us, it’s always been about the quality of service. That’s why we continue to grow through word of mouth and maintain strong community relationships,” says Becky.

“We are so excited about what the future holds for our business.”
