fit20 franchise

fit20 is a multi-award winning boutique personal training franchise focused on helping people to improve their overall health, fitness and wellbeing.

Our unique approach - focused on efficient, high-intensity, 20-minute workouts—resonates with a broad audience, from busy professionals to fitness newcomers who seek an effective alternative to traditional gyms.

Established in 2009 in the Netherlands, fit20 is now active in 14 countries including the UK, Belgium, Qatar, USA, New Zealand, Iraq, Spain, France, Germany, Morocco, Qatar, Sweden and Ireland

The UK is run by master franchisee Niri Patel. For more than 25 years, Niri has helped people grow their businesses into thriving enterprises. When a good friend from Holland introduced him to fit20, he quickly realised its unique benefits and the vast potential it held for the UK market. Niri’s personal discomfort with traditional gyms and his vision for a more inclusive fitness solution inspired him to bring fit20 to the UK.

“We saw a huge gap in the fitness market for people who, like us, didn’t feel comfortable in traditional gyms. fit20 provides a welcoming, effective solution that can significantly improve the nation’s health.”

fit20 is making waves in the UK fitness industry. According to Deloitte and Europe Active’s 2024 European Health & Fitness Market Report, fit20 has become the fastest growing micro fitness brand in the UK!

We have studios in Edinburgh, Exeter, Leeds, Leicester, Chiswick, Sheffield, Twyford, Norwich, Halifax, Torquay, Plymouth and Uxbridge.  We are opening three more studios soon in Glossop, St Albans, and Bridgend. This brings us closer to our goal of 20 studios in the UK by the end of the year.

With its scalable franchise formula, fit20 offers a highly profitable business model that combines human expertise with cutting-edge technology in its boutique-style studios. We are looking for franchise partners across the UK.

Finances

The average investment is £45K. £110K is average revenue.

A single fit20 studio business offers great unit economics. Typically break-even is achieved during months 6 to 7, at around 60 to 80 members. The first year after opening, studio growth should be over 100 members. During year 2, membership can grow to 150 and in year 3 membership to 200, at which point the studio owner is very profitable. Return on investment is usually 2-3 years.

A fit20 studio offers a capacity of at least 300 members. This represents a revenue of around £300k and an EBITDA level in excess of £130k, or profit range of 40% to 45%. The largest studio today has approximately 375 members. At this point the largest multi-unit owner has nine fit20 studios.

Interview with award-winning franchisee Duncan Attwood, fit20 Exeter

Duncan Attwood struggled as a kid with his weight and subsequently his health, and it wasn’t until he took up kayaking as a teenager that he truly understood the benefits of fitness. He has spent the past 20 years using health and fitness to help others in a more natural way without reliance on medication.  After working in numerous gyms and health clubs, Duncan decided he wanted to start his own business. Duncan admits initially he didn’t consider a franchise as he disliked the thought of paying royalties, but he now appreciates the reason for this and the many benefits of being part of a franchise network.  Duncan is now looking for suitable premises for his second fit20 site. Read more about Duncan’s journey with fit20.
