Pizza1889 is an established artisan pizza café and takeaway operating from both traditional retail units and converted upcycled shipping containers.

Our concept originated in 2013 with the owners taking their learnings from living overseas. Our pizza is made fresh on site every day – from the dough to the tomato sauce by fully trained Pizza Maestros who learn to cook an Italian street pizza fully within 6 weeks.

We have a loyal customer base who believe in the fresh quality and authenticity of our food, and a menu that is highly affordable.

In all locations we operate we are one of the busiest Pizzerias on delivery that is additional to a thriving instore business serving our local communities. Our app is growing along with our database, all our stores produce high turnover for a grab and go concept and are profitable.

We have various established revenue streams outside our loyal customers through business to business, delivery partnerships, local tie ins, and event catering. The BBC and AstraZeneca are among our supportive client base.

We are looking or franchise partners across the UK. Hospitality experience is not necessary but we love pizza and would want our partners to share the same passion in creating great quality authentic food.

Our models

We offer two models - traditional retail units and converted upcycled shipping containers.

Our shipping container units energise the environments they inhabit offering innovative, branded and vibrant solutions to optimise outdoor space. It unlocks valuable opportunities to partner with pubs and hospitality venues that don’t currently serve food. It’s a low-overhead, high-return model that leverages existing footfall while also generating incremental revenue from external customers - maximising profit potential for franchise partners.

This model offers flexibility and security and an affordable entry point to owning a business with ROI of 2/3 years based on current turnover model and profitability. The cost includes the purchase of the shipping container restaurant asset – which is owned fully at the end of the term; the unit can be upcycled, rebranded, reused or sold.

Due to demand from franchisees who prefer a traditional bricks-and-mortar setting, Pizza1889 has now developed a walk-in restaurant concept. This brings the original container format indoors, making it flexible away from the original shipping container unit concept. The brand’s identity, design, and authentic cooking experience remain completely intact.

By creating more indoor dining capacity, this model drives store sales and delivers higher margin. This format thrives all year round - maximising revenue without reliance on outdoor seating in the summer, while cutting costs with less dependence on costly food delivery platforms.

Our extended team and support partners

Store operations, marketing and hospitality management team - We have extensive knowledge to support with food, marketing, operations and business management in all areas of running a business.
Landlords / commercialization - We have been lucky enough to work with landlords and commercialisation teams who support and encourage our land and site requirements.
Suppliers - supporting us day to day are our many suppliers who will work directly with our franchisees. They support and deliver the goods and operations needed to run our stores. We have great external relationships who will assist in providing Accounting, Tech, HR, Design, Build, Landscaping, Distribution, Procurement, Packaging.

Our ideal franchisee profile

You are someone looking for a first franchise opportunity
You have a strong desire to be their own boss and to be hands on in your own business.
You have a passion for pizza - love great quality food and are a people person who will love talking and serving our many loyal customers
Preferably you have a hospitality (ideally food) service background – this can be taught to the right candidates
You have experience being in a kitchen or feel you could be comfortable hands on in a cooking environment
It is desirable that you have experience of leading and developing a small team
Ideally you have understanding and some experience of running a small team, business or department
You have want to learn how to manage your own P&L,
You have a willingness to connect with the local community, build relationships, make friends and partnerships required to drive sales
You need to have access to at least £50k of funds with the ability if necessary to provide security to borrow the balance (we can support and get approval for funding - if necessary).
