GreenThumb Cheshire North East celebrates 25-years in business
GreenThumb Cheshire North East is celebrating 25 years of providing lawn care treatments to around 3,000 customers’ homes every year since 1999.
The franchise business, which is now operated and owned by John and Alison Sutton, is continuing to grow and build on the family legacy of offering a bespoke localised high quality lawn care service to homes and businesses in and around North East Cheshire, to help customers achieve their perfect lawns all year round.
The couple who have lived in Wilmslow for over 30 years, took over the franchise in April 2021 following successful careers in sales and marketing. Operating their fleet of branded vans from their base in Woodford, the Sutton’s are supported by a fully trained team of five full time employees, including three longstanding lawn operatives. The couple’s children, Grace and George, are also involved in the business and are a key part of the long-term legacy plan.
Prior to buying the franchise, John spent over 20 years in the printing industry, whilst Alison has over 25 years of senior marketing and communications experience in the financial sector. With their combined experience, the couple have brought many transferable management skills to running their franchise, from business planning and strategy to sales and marketing, employee engagement and customer care and satisfaction.

We are looking forward to continuing to serve them for many more years to come. Looking to the future, we’re really energised about the growth of the business and how we can continue to keep the community at the heart.

We will be looking to expand the talented local team, who all deliver exceptional customer experience, as well as grow our customer base to over 4,000 within three years and our turnover by 15% year-on-year. We also recognise the importance of excellent customer care, so our aim is to continue to provide a consistent and high-quality service for every customer.”
GreenThumb Cheshire North East has recently partnered with local charity, Wilmslow Youth, and will hope to raise vital funds for the mental health support of local children, a cause very close to the hearts of Alison and John.
