Wingers Doubles Size of In-house Marination Facility

Wingers – the Chicken Wing Company – has confirmed it is currently working to double the size of its in-house marination facility in Aldridge, Birmingham.  The total investment, estimated between £150-200K, will cover re-configuration of the current marination facility to include a secure delivery van unit, extended refrigeration area, plus an upper level mezzanine store for non-refrigerated goods.

Wingers which recently announced 59.5% growth in like-for-like sales figures for its established franchised restaurants over the past year, also aims to quadruple its transport and delivery capacity to meet the rapidly expanding needs of the popular franchised restaurant chain.

Dylan Sunner, co-founder of Wingers and Director of Production and Logistics explains: “One of Wingers’ key success factors is our comprehensive support for our franchisees.  We work to minimise costs with zero compromise on the excellent quality of our fresh buttermilk fried chicken.  Having a reliable and established supply chain for goods is essential to achieve this goal. Therefore, last year we took our marination process in house to ensure absolute consistency in our product.  As we continue to expand, we need to manage the in-house production of our fresh marinated chicken for up to 50 stores, so this substantial investment is for the benefit of both our existing and new franchisees alike.

“A much larger refrigeration area, going from an eight pallet cold room to a 30-40 pallet fridge will mean that we can manage supply more closely, avoiding any delays in delivery.  We can also be more flexible to respond if any of our restaurants are exceptionally busy.

“We are capitalising on the efficiency of our current workflow but on a much larger scale.  As our store number grow we will also be taking on more team members to support our in-house process, which means we can continue to provide unparalleled support to franchisees as we expand.”

Wingers is on track to be open in 20 locations by the end of 2024, with ambitious plans to reach 50 sites over the next four years.  Franchise applications are now being welcomed from QSR professionals and experienced business people in key development areas including the North East and North West, on the M1 and M6 corridors and in cities like Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.  Wingers is also looking to expand in Scotland in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Wingers offer full turn-key restaurant opening, comprehensive training and support, simple operation with low staff overheads, a great menu and low cost of entry.  The potential for excellent returns will really help your business take off!
