Dream Doors franchise wins National Training Award

Dream Doors has scooped yet another trophy – this time at the National Training Awards (NTA) – in what is shaping up to be a spectacular year for the UK’s largest kitchen facelift franchise. Last week, the Gosport-based company won the South East Training Award in the medium-sized employer category for its comprehensive training programme, dedicated to helping franchisees improve and capitalise on their sales skills. The Award comes just a few months after Dream Doors franchise won the Express Newspapers Brand Builder of the Year Award, which recognises franchisors that have both supported and added value to their brands over the last year. Two of Dream Doors’ top performing franchisees, Anne and Trevor Conduit, based in Nottingham, were also nominated for the coveted Franchisee of the Year Award this year.

Says Troy Tappenden, founder of Dream Doors: “Winning all three awards would have been the perfect hat-trick, but two out of three ain’t bad. All in all, this has been a sensational year for the entire Dream Doors franchise network.”

Presenting the award to Dream Doors was UK hurdles champion and sports commentator, Colin Jackson (pictured) who congratulated the winners saying: “This year's recipients have proven that in today's competitive market, high quality training is an integral part of both personal and business development. I am delighted to present the winners with their trophies.”

The National Training Awards celebrates organisations and individuals that demonstrate outstanding business and personal success through investment in training. Dream Doors recruited sales training specialist, Virada, and drew up a programme to develop skills in a consultative approach that involved understanding customers wants and needs by building genuine relationships, presenting benefits effectively and helping customers with decision-making. It was this effort that secured the company’s place in the contest, and finally cemented its win.

Dream Doors Operations Director Kelly Chambers says of the training programme: “We created a two-day Introduction to Selling workshop for all franchisees, and one-day refreshers as needed.  Our sales training programme now features in our recruitment pitch, and is also used to develop new franchisees.  Last year, the training accounted for 165 extra sales totalling more than £575,000.”

Clearly impressed by the efforts of the franchise, Chair of the South East judging panel, Kathryn Cook, confirmed: “The South East winners clearly represent the benefits of better skills and training. They’ve proven that training can change a company’s performance and that it is an essential ingredient for success.”
