Home Instead franchisor appointed position on world council

Paul Hogan, Founder and Chairman of Home Instead Senior Care, Ireland's largest home care provider, has been appointed to the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on the Ageing Society – a significant recognition of his reputation as a global leader on senior issues.

“It really puts him in a position to play at the world level,” said Jim Beck, Public Affairs Director, Home Instead Senior Care.

The World Economic Forum is an independent, international organisation incorporated as a Swiss not-for-profit foundation. It is made up of chief executives of the world’s largest corporations, national political leaders, journalists and other selected intellectuals to address issues of global concern. It has 72 councils addressing what it considers key issues, including the council for which Paul was selected.

Each council convenes relevant thought leaders from academia, government, business and other fields to capture the best knowledge on each key issue. Each council advises the Forum and other interested parties, such as governments and international organizations. Council members meet virtually and at the Summit on the Global Agenda in the United Arab Emirates.

Paul’s council met virtually last Tuesday, November 9th, and will meet in Dubai on November 29th.

About Paul Hogan

In 1994, Paul Hogan founded Home Instead Senior Care. On June 1 of that year, he began operating the company out of an office in his mother's home with one desk and one computer. Today, the Home Instead Senior Care network includes nearly 900 franchise offices worldwide, with locations in 15 countries including Ireland.

The company is now the undisputed global senior care leader, and its momentum and growth continue unabated.  Paul's move in June 1, 2010 from CEO to Chairman was intended to help keep Home Instead Senior Care at the forefront of the global senior care industry, and to enable him to play a bigger role in guiding and impacting industry-related legislation. In his words, as Chairman, he will concentrate "more of his energies and efforts on developing the senior care industry and the Home Instead Senior Care brand."

In 1985, Paul began his franchising career with Merry Maids; he remained with the company until founding Home Instead Senior Care in 1994.
