Driver Hire franchise surges ahead

Driver Hire’s December 2010 sales turnover reached levels not seen since 2007. In fact December saw the firm’s second best-ever week in its 25-year history. Year-to-date sales are nearly 30% ahead of last year and three quarters of the company’s 92-strong franchise network are now on target to produce annual sales in excess of £500,000. Twenty-seven franchisees are expected to hit the magic ££million.

The company's excellent performance was helped by ‘Manic Monday’, the cold snap and increased recognition that, when it comes to recruitment, Driver Hire is the safe and reliable option.

“Manic Monday was the peak day for buying online,” says Driver Hire’s Chief Executive, Chris Chidley, explaining the reasons behind his company’s purple patch. “All those orders were delivered by parcel delivery companies. Clearly they turned to us to help them meet increased demand. But it’s not just the retail sector that’s helped us achieve this excellent performance. It’s broad-based with good levels of demand coming from a number of industry sectors.”

Driver Hire also believes that this run could be set to continue if the results of a survey by Orange prove correct. According to respondents, mainly SMEs, 74% of them are planning to recruit in 2010 and move to a more flexible workforce, both factors which could help recruitment companies such as Driver Hire.

“Driver Hire has enjoyed an excellent twelve months’ trading, and I think there’s plenty to be positive about,” Chris Chidley continues. “This performance is the result of our continued focus on what we do well: customer service, industry knowledge, compliance and, of course, our round-the-clock service.”

With some lucrative new national accounts being won recently and a UK-wide marketing campaign about to begin, 2011 looks like being a great year for Driver Hire’s franchise network.

Driver Hire currently has 20 new territories available, together with some franchise re-sales; finance schemes are available to help with the cost of purchase
