Belvoir franchise pledges support to Macmillan Cancer Care

Belvoir, one of the UK’s largest specialist residential lettings agencies, is proud to announce its alignment with Macmillan Cancer Support, and hopes to raise £10,000 for the charity by the end of January 2012.

Belvoir MD Dorian Gonsalves says: “Many Belvoir offices already support charities of their choice and this will of course continue, but towards the end of last year, Belvoir set up a charity committee to look at ways that as many offices as possible could support a charity with both a strong national and local community presence.

“After extensive discussion a decision was taken to back Macmillan because of the amazing work it does and the support it offers to cancer victims, carers, families and friends. “

Ellie Wallis, a member of Belvoir’s franchise support team and a keen supporter of Macmillan, helped to organise the launch of the campaign. “Belvoir launched its campaign on 1st February with Go Green Day,” explains Ellie. “Belvoir has over 140 offices nationwide and we encouraged our offices to participate by wearing something green and inviting staff to donate a small sum of money to Macmillan.

“Funds raised through Go Green Day will really help to get our campaign off to a flying start and help us reach our overall group target of £10,000 by January next year.”

Staff at Belvoir’s Central Office and at the company owned Belvoir Grantham shop, really got into the spirit of the charity launch by dressing up in shades of green, and selling green sweets and cookies as well as Macmillan badges.

“It was a fantastic day, and will be one of many exciting fundraising events throughout the year,” says Ellie.

“So many of our Belvoir offices are incredibly enthusiastic about this project and have great ideas to help us reach our target for Macmillan. Belvoir offices are in high profile area within the local community and their efforts will help to raise awareness amongst landlords and tenants. Watch this space for more charity news in the future!”

Gemma Shaw, fundraising manager at Macmillan, attended the Go Green Day launch and said, ‘“A huge and heartfelt thank you goes out to Belvoir for choosing Macmillan Cancer Support. The help Macmillan provides, from nurses to financial aid, is funded by generous donations from the public, so each and every penny raised through this partnership really will make a difference to those who are affected by cancer.  We look forward to working with Belvoir and Go Green Day is a fantastic way to start!”
