Wagging Tails Mascot completes the Great South Run for Guide Dogs

Bernie, the Saint Bernard mascot of dog boarding franchise Wagging Tails, took on his biggest challenge when he completed the Great South Run on Sunday 28th October 2012 to raise money for Guide Dogs.

Bernie’s run was part of Franchise Director Jim Suswain’s pledge to cover over 100 miles for Guide Dogs in 2012 - a challenge which will have seen him complete three half marathons, three 10 mile runs, a triathlon and various shorter distance events by the end of the year.

The Great South Run took Jim/Bernie up to 89 miles for the year and was Jim’s first time running in costume. Jim had this to say, "The crowd support was incredible and they made it a great experience. It was really hot in the dog suit and the head got slightly uncomfortable after about 6 miles but the cheers and high fives from the supporters made it a really fun day”.

Jim's final run of the year is the Downton Half Marathon on Sunday November 25th which will take him over the 100 mile mark for the year.

Guide Dogs are Wagging Tails’ chosen charity for 2012 and Bernie has been spotted with his collection bucket at various country shows this summer in support of the charity. In addition Wagging Tails also sponsor trainee Guide Dog, Skipper. To support Bernie's efforts and donate to Guide Dogs please visit httpss://www.justgiving.com/Wagging-Tails-Guide-Dogs .
