Local clothing designer brings ZipYard franchise to Marple
After 20 years working as a clothing designer Jane Nketiah (41) and her husband Kingsley Nketiah (48) have decided to open their own garment alterations and repairs business, The ZipYard, to give local people a low-cost way to renew their wardrobe.
On Wednesday 3 October The ZipYard, 107 Stockport Road, Marple, near the Post Office, will officially open its doors to customers.
Jane said: “I’m so excited and I think local people will love the Centre and the services we offer. No appointments are necessary and we’ve got private fitting rooms so we can do any measuring right here. Most people don’t have the time or skills to repair or alter their own clothes and so many good garments are going to waste just handing in the wardrobe. Now they can bring these in and we’ll make them fit perfectly.”
The UK’s leading clothing alterations and repairs company The ZipYard offers a wide range of alteration and tailoring services, all done on site by trained professionals in a clean, purpose-built environment. From dress restyling and taking in/letting out to bridal-wear fitting and formal wear alterations, Jane’s team of seamstresses will do it all. There is also a 1-hour express service for zips, hems and minor repairs.
Jane’s husband, Kingsley, will be managing the Centre while Jane continues her job working as Head of Design for a sportswear manufacture. Jane and Kingsley met in Ghana over 15 years ago when Jane was teaching fashion design at Takoradi Polytechnic with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO). They have two children Maxwell (8) and Maddie (6).
The ZipYard Marple will be open Mon-Fri 9am-5.30pm and Saturday 9.30am-5pm, with two fully qualified seamstresses ready to carry out repairs and alterations.
