During its AGM in Birmingham on the 6th December the British Franchise Association’s new Board of Directors was announced, along with the Forum chairs for 2013.
The bfa Board is made up of 11 Full Member franchisors; 1 Associate Member franchisor; 3 Affiliate Members (at least one being a legal representative); 3 franchisees; and the bfa director general, Brian Smart. All Franchisor and Affiliate Member positions on the bfa Board are through nomination and election by the membership, with those elected then appointing the franchisee representatives.

As is tradition, the AGM was followed by the first meeting of the new Board, where Michael Eyre was confirmed as chairman for the third successive year. Michael proposed Berkeley Harris as deputy chairman, with this appointment ratified by the Board members. Mike Goddard retains his position as Board member for international affairs.
The Board also confirmed the chairs of the bfa committees, which all have representation from franchisors, franchisees and affiliates. These committees feed into the main Board, making recommendations for key elements of the Association’s strategy and operation.
Chairs for the coming year are:
Quality Standards – Simon Bartholomew
Finance and General Purposes – Sean Derrig
Committee for the Regions – Alistair Wiggins
Marketing and Sales – Berkeley Harris
Franchisee Membership – Ken Bevis
The bfa would like to place on record its gratitude to all outgoing Board members and Forum chairs for their dedication and fantastic work in their roles, and give a warm welcome to our new arrivals who we’re sure will continue to ensure the Association, and the franchising industry, go from strength to strength over the next 12 months.
