HSBC Franchise Unit supports the launch of new business ventures
A Northampton-based entrepreneur who opened his first franchise pizza outlet at the age of 18 has added two more Pizza Hut Delivery outlets to his portfolio with the support of HSBC’s Birmingham-based Franchise unit and the bank’s Birmingham Commercial team. Nadim Iftikhar Choudary has acquired outlets in Chorlton and Cheadle Hulme near Manchester after securing a £400,000 funding package, bringing his total portfolio of Pizza Hut Delivery outlets to 14.
Nadim’s company NAS Manna, which is based in Northampton and employs 400 people across the business, operates five outlets in Manchester, five in Nottingham and four in Birmingham. He plans to add a further seven outlets to the portfolio in 2013 and is currently in advanced talks to acquire sites based predominantly in the North West.
Nadim started his company at the age of 18 after working in KFC restaurants whilst at university, opening his first Pizza Hut Delivery outlet in Stourbridge in 2005. Nadim is now the largest Pizza Hut Delivery franchisee in the UK and his success has been recognised by the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, which crowned him the Institute of Asian Businesses Business Person of the Year and Nas Manna Business of the Year in 2011.
HSBC Commercial Bank has supported the company’s growth, helping to fund the acquisition of nine of its 14 outlets to date. Nadim has worked closely with his HSBC Relationship Manager Lance Jeavons during a period which has seen the company’s turnover grow from £1.4 million at the end of 2010 to £6 million this year. Tony Massey, HSBC Senior Franchise Manager, has also been involved in supporting the company’s expansion.
HSBC Birmingham Area Commercial Director Adrian Gill said: “This young entrepreneur has built his present network of Pizza Hut Delivery outlets on the back of hard work, a great understanding of the business model, successfully applying sound working practices and ensuring a good understanding of the Key Performance Indicators of the business. He also understands the importance of having good professionals to support him and, in particular, has benefitted from the involvement of Mohammed Chaudry of Sky Corporate as his accountant to ensure the finances of the business are on a sound footing. We are pleased to support Nadim and look forward to working with him in the future.”
Nadim Iftikhar Choudary added: “We are a growth business and we make sure we get the basics right, such as good offers, marketing, customer service and product. To date we are up 30% on like-for-like sales, which is extremely encouraging in a financial climate such as this, and I am confident of further growth next year, both organically and through acquisitions. HSBC has been very supportive of the business and has given us the required backing; we see this very much as a relationship.”
