Political correspondent Nick Robinson to speak at bfa annual conference

Nick Robinson, national political commentator and broadcaster, has been confirmed as the primary speaker at this year’s British Franchise Association (bfa) Annual Conference, which takes place on the 4th & 5th July at Senate House in London.

Mr Robinson has worked on a number of prominent television and radio shows on UK networks, most recently succeeding Andrew Marr as one of the nation’s best-known political editors. A former deputy editor of On The Record and Panorama, he is one of several journalists to have switched from working behind the camera to appearing onscreen.

Director general of the bfa Brian Smart commented: “We’re delighted to have secured somebody of Nick’s knowledge and reputation to speak at the conference this year. He’ll bring his political nous, wit and broadcasting experience to deliver a presentation which I know our members will value.

“This is one of the most well-known speakers we’ve had at the event and I’m sure Nick will help ensure it is the best one we’ve held to date.”

After studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford, Mr Robinson was inspired to go into broadcasting by the Today programme presenter and family friend, Brian Redhead. He gained production experience on Brass Tacks, Newsround and Crimewatch before achieving his first presenting slot on Radio 5 Live.

He has also edited The Vote Race, reported on Prime Minister’s Questions and fronted Westminster Live before taking his current position as a national television political correspondent.
