PIZZA ENTREPRENEUR WINS NATIONAL AWARD

Lisa Tobias, Domino’s Pizza’s most successful female franchisee in the UK, and owner of four Domino’s stores in Scotland, was this week rewarded in a national competition for her outstanding business achievements in the hospitality and catering industry.

Lisa, an ex-national gymnast, beat off stiff competition to be named one of 30 people under the age of 30 who are recognised for their commitment and dedication to the hospitality industry in the prestigious, annual Caterer & Hotelkeeper magazine Acorn Awards.

Lisa, 27, won the award because of her devotion and passion for her work and to the industry. Her successful attempts to publicly promote the benefits of working in the industry, to other would-be entrepreneurs, were singled out for helping to attract more recruits to the sector. And Lisa’s incredible career success and ability to handle a business with a £2m+ turnover and 120 employees, at just 27 years of age, earned her the respect of a very distinguished judging panel, including Simon Dodd from the Orchid Group, Simon Marshall of Unilever Foodsolutions and Knud Bundgaard of The Hilton Group.

Lisa’s impressive career at Domino’s has seen her rise from a part-time role to a successful business owner in just five years. She has earned respect from her peers as well as many other business organisations and groups in her local region. Her Domino’s Pizza delivery stores are consistently among the top-performers in the Domino’s Pizza system in Europe , in both sales and high standards.

Andy Hirst, Head of Franchise Development at Domino’s Pizza says, ”Lisa is a phenomenal success story but her story is mirrored by many other successful men and women who are carving out brilliant full and part-time careers at Domino’s Pizza. Their combined efforts are helping to change perceptions of jobs in the industry. This makes it easier for us to recruit the most talented people and, of course, in an industry where service standards reign supreme, the company with the best people will enjoy the greatest success.

“We are all very proud of Lisa as not only is she a Caterer & Hotelkeeper Acorn award winner, she is also the UK’s most successful female franchisee! I predict that her career will continue to go from strength to strength – just watch this space.”

Lisa, however, is not resting on her laurels. She says, “I’m absolutely delighted to be recognised but it doesn’t stop here. I’d love to build up a network of Domino’s stores between Glasgow and Ayrshire. I think there’s huge potential in the market and I can’t wait to take my store count to five!.”
