Martin & Co franchisee scores highest marks across the UK for Lettings Qualification

Nick Diggle, Franchise Owner of Martin & Co in Cambridge, has received a special award from the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) for his performance in its Residential Lettings & Property Management professional qualification.

Nick achieved the highest overall mark in the UK, with a perfect score in three of the four lettings exams. He was presented with the award for Student of the Year by the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFoPP) and ARLA chief executive, Peter Bolton King, at the organisations annual presidential dinner at the Savoy, London.

Nick said: I’m delighted to have set the top standard this year in what I feel is a very practical and well-constructed course.  Property Lettings is a complicated business, and it’s vital for landlords to know that their agent has proper knowledge and understanding of areas such as the housing act, the landlord and tenant act, and the many other legal, technical and practical aspects of property lettings and management. Legislation is changing all the time in our industry, and that’s why training must always be a continuous process.

Sue Hopson, Brand Standards Director at Martin & Co (UK) Ltd was also at the event and one of the first to congratulate Nick. Sue commented “I am delighted that Nick has been awarded ARLA Student of the Year - this confirms his commitment to the Lettings industry, Martin & Co and his clients. As an ARLA member myself, I am actively encouraging our Franchise owners and their staff to join Nick by studying for their technical award which will lead them into ARLA membership. I have experienced first hand the benefits of achieving qualifications and I know that this will have a huge impact on his business in Cambridge.  I have no doubt that Nick will now want to continue with his studies and we have already had the conversation about the next qualification level – the certificate!

Nick along with his brother Charlie and Julian run the Cambridge Martin & Co franchise and have been trading for nearly 5 years. Though Nick chose to go down the self-study route many other franchise owners and staff members are studying for the qualification as part of the programme of courses offered by Martin & Co’s Training Academy with potential numbers who have passed reaching close to the 100 mark by the end of the year.
