Domino's franchisee scoops top Scottish women in business award
Domino’s Pizza franchisee, Lisa Tobias, has scooped a top award for Scottish women in business. Lisa won Outstanding Contribution to Business Award 2011 at the annual Association of Scottish Businesswomen Awards held at the Macdonald Highland Hotel in Aviemore.
ASB is the umbrella organisation for business and professional women’s clubs throughout Scotland and aims to encourage personal and professional development as well as promoting business opportunities by way of networking, exchanging views and encouraging and recognising achievement. Lisa was awarded Outstanding Contribution to Business for her dedication and determination, which has seen her go from being gymnast and part-time worker at Domino’s to a highly successful and inspirational businesswoman.
Lisa, aged 30, currently owns six Domino’s Pizza stores in Scotland and employs over 200 members of staff. She is the company’s most successful female franchisee in the UK and Ireland but still finds time for family – she has a young daughter Naomi who is 18 months old. Lisa is also a regular speaker at national franchising events and is an ambassador for the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust and for Enterprise Insight’s Girls! Make Your Mark scheme.
Lisa Tobias said: “I am absolutely thrilled to win this ASB award for Outstanding Contribution to Business. Gaining recognition from other successful businesswomen is fantastic and shows what you can achieve when you put your mind to it. I’m really passionate about what I do and with the fantastic teams in each of my stores behind me, together with the support of my husband Graeme and my family, I’m very excited to continue to grow our business together.”
Andy Hirst, head of franchise development at Domino’s, adds: “Lisa is Domino’s youngest and most successful female franchisee in the UK and winning this ASB award is fantastic recognition of her hard work and achievements to date. Lisa’s success shows how women in the industry are managing to mix true professional entrepreneurial spirit with a happy and fulfilling family life. We’re delighted to see Lisa progress as a confident, successful businesswoman and hope she continues to inspire others by her continued hard work and determination.”
Lisa shared the stage and her success with joint Outstanding Contribution to Business award winner, Karen Farquhar of Befriend a Child.
