Pack & Send franchise help model London trolley bus complete journey
Specialist Packaging, Shipping and Logistics Company - Pack & Send – took an apparently simple order to transport a model London Trolley Bus to Spain this week. The fact that the fragile antique model was one of only five of its kind left in the world and was over 1.5m in length may have deterred some companies, but for recently opened Pack & Send in Reading, jobs like this are fast becoming just another ‘day at the office’...
Pack & Send is the new packaging and shipping company which launched their unique collection, packing and freight management service in the UK in January, and whilst the store in Reading is just the first of many planned for the UK, the business has already seen some interesting items pass through their packing bays.
This week, Pack & Send were asked to collect, pack and ship an antique London Trolley Bus model that had been bought at auction by a European collector. This valuable and fragile item needed to be securely packed and delivered to its new owner in the South of Spain. The model was one of only five left in the world, so in addition to its high monitory value, it was an extremely rare example of London’s transport history; dating back nearly 100 years.
This was a job that Pack & Send were uniquely positioned to undertake; their understanding and appreciation for the value of such a rare and substantial piece, their expert packaging knowledge and facilities, and wide ranging delivery services.
The Trolley Bus, which was about the same size and weight as a small moped, was collected from the auction house by a Pack & Send vehicle and brought back to the Reading store for secure packing and preparation for the journey to Spain.
And when it comes to packing; Pack & Send know what they are doing! Their growing reputation as experts in shipping fragile and valuable items comes from the care they take with their customer’s property.
The treasured Trolley Bus’ moving parts carefully secured, the model was shrouded in Cell Aire antistatic wrap to protect the glass, paintwork, and internal electrical cabling from the build up of static during its journey. It was then covered in heavy duty bubble wrap and packed in a custom-made triple walled carton to complete the inner coat of the protection.
The carton was then injected with Pack & Send’s unique foam cushioning which expanded to provide a tough 8cm layer of foam cushioning above, below, and around all the model’s sides, and ultimate external protection was provided by building a wooden crate around the whole carton.
The Trolley Bus model was then transported by road on a three day journey to the South of Spain during which Pack & Send could track the movement of the cargo every step of the way.
Pack & Send are able to help businesses and consumers across the UK with more conventional requirements too. Their range of domestic and international courier services and collection and custom packing solutions are ideal for safely transporting anything from spare parts to works of art.
Pack & Send are planning to open 240 stores across the UK some of which will be owner operated through a franchise license. Individuals interested in owning and operating a Pack & Send store can find more information at www.packsend.co.uk.
