Cash Converters help ease the cost of Summer holidays as families continue to cut back
Almost half of families in the UK make cutbacks or even take on a second job to fund their summer holidays, according to a survey by Cash Converters.
It revealed a third of families spent over £2,000 on their summer holidays and an average of £80 a week on entertainment during the school break.
A recent survey, by high street retailer Cash Converters, found that although 44 per cent of people have to raise extra cash to pay for the summer period, only 18 per cent of them sell unwanted goods to ease the strain.
With an average of £200 in second hand goods cluttering up households Cash Converters is urging people to have a clear out of unused items such as iPods, mobile phones and obsolete games consoles to raise instant cash, which could contribute to the cost of a summer holiday.
Cash Converters is the UK’s number one retailer of buying and selling pre-owned goods, and has 219 stores up and down the country offering consumers the chance to buy and sell a wide variety of items.
David Patrick, chief executive of Cash Converters is encouraging people to unlock hundreds of pounds to help pay for their summer holiday and entertaining children during the long break. He said: “Lots of families are still committed to their annual summer holiday, which can be expensive, even those that choose to stay in the UK, trips out to theme parks and the zoo can really mount up.
“At Cash Converters we’re keen to highlight how you can make money from items you already own, as we all continue to feel the pinch and look for ways to raise some extra cash. It may be you only need the funds to tide you over until your next pay day, in which case we offer the option to get your item back, known as a Buyback.
“Buyback is a really straightforward and quick service to use. Customers bring in an item along with some up to date identification; a price is agreed and the customer gets the cash and up to 28 days option to buy back the goods. Of course, if you realise you can live without that old Playstation 3 or the guitar you meant to learn to play but never did, you can simply leave it with Cash Converters.”
