Belvoir Lettings franchise raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support

The team at Belvoir Lettings recently threw open the doors to its Central Office headquarters in Grantham, Lincolnshire to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Members of the public were welcomed by members of the Belvoir franchise support team and enjoyed a guided tour of the town’s former Courthouse followed by coffee and cakes in return for a charity donation.

“The coffee morning was promoted through local businesses and was a big success,” says Belvoir CEO Dorian Gonsalves.

“Belvoir’s Central Office is an imposing and prestigious building with a colourful history dating back to 1820. Bought by Belvoir’s Chairman, Mike Goddard in 1995, Central Office underwent a complete but sympathetic restoration and today is at the very heart of Belvoir’s operations, housing a total of 34 staff.

“Many original features were retained from the building’s time as a Magistrate’s Court and police station, including grilles on the heavy inner doors of the former cells. The old courtroom, with its beautiful wooden floors, is now part of Belvoir’s impressive training facility.

“The people of Grantham remember Central Office from its years as a Magistrate’s Court and were curious to see what it looks like inside so they were happy to pop in for coffee, cake and a guided tour.

“We were delighted when local author and historian John Pinchbeck came in with his wife Pat, who worked at the Courthouse from 1973 to 1993. Pat shared many memories of her time here and recalled some infamous criminals that had passed through these doors over the years!”

Commenting on her morning at Central Office, Pat Pinchbeck said: “It was great to have an opportunity to come in and see how sympathetically this lovely old building has been renovated.”

The event raised £112 for Macmillan Cancer Support and will be combined with a further £570 raised by business development manager Ellie Wallis at a second coffee morning in her local village.

“Belvoir has pledged to support Macmillan throughout 2012 and many of our offices are hosting charity events to help raise funds,” explains Dorian. “All the money raised will help the many people and families that benefit from the fantastic work and services that Macmillan Cancer Support provides.”
