Premier Sport vs. Ninja Warrior UK - coming soon to ITV!
Premier Sport’s very own, Miranda Rickard is set to appear on the new series of ITV’s Ninja Warrior UK, airing in 2016. From 17,000 applicants she was one of 250 contestants to make the final cut for the hit show, presented by Ben Sheppard, Chris Kamara and Rochelle Humes.
Miranda, Premier Sport’s Area Coordinator in Plymouth is confident she can complete the gruelling obstacle course, pressing that red buzzer and become only the second female to reach the final round and crowned Nina Warrior.
The self acclaimed fitness fanatic loves all aspects of the physical challenge. She certainly has the minerals to complete the daunting assault course following her recent 1st place at a GoHARD event, 3rd place in a Kamikaze event and set to compete at theOCR UK championship in November, which is an independent national competition celebrating our home-grown British elite runners.
Her appearance on the show, she hopes will have a huge impact and prove an even greater inspiration to the children she’s already inspiring through her work with Premier Sport. We caught up with Miranda who’s only goal at this stage is not to fall victim of that first obstacle, like so many before her have...
“It’s all a bit surreal at the moment! I just don't want to be ‘that contestant’ who’s wiped out in the first few seconds! Having said that, I applied knowing I can be a real contender for the women as there was only one women that got through on the first series," Miranda commented.
"The audition was physically very challenging having to do various obstacles and being scored at each stage. These consisted of a 200m timed sprint, one attempt at a wall run, various jumps and rope swings, 15 pull ups, wall traversing and a balance test. I then had a five minute interview on camera at the end of the audition. It was then a matter of, ‘we will call you, don't call us’ type scenario. At that stage i didn’t’ think i would make it....but I got the call!”, she continued to say.
Since we spoke to Miranda she’s taken to the course for her once-in-a-lifetime attempt to become Ninja Warrior UK. Giving nothing away, we’ll have to wait until 2016 to see just how our very own Premier Sport daredevil fared on television's most gruelling challenge.
