Dream Doors opens new showroom in Kings Langley
Dream Doors Watford and St Albans was opened today in a gala ceremony by the Rt Hon Mike Penning MP, the local Member of Parliament. The showroom is owned by lifelong Kings Langley resident Martin Smith and his wife Alex, who believe that local residents will relish the opportunity to work with local people to transform their kitchen:
“Dream Doors’ kitchen makeovers have been a hit all over the UK and we are delighted to be bringing these services to the area,” said Martin Smith. “Consumers relish the chance to use a national retail brand to transform their kitchen for a fraction of the cost and hassle of a full re-fit, whilst at the same time dealing with a trusted local face. Dream Doors has 70 showrooms across the UK, and since its launch in 1999, its model of replacing kitchen doors and work surfaces at a fraction of the cost of a re-fit has proved hugely popular with consumers. The company completed its 40,000th kitchen makeover in 2015 and the average turnover per franchise has increased to £500,000 last year.
Martin has spent much of his career as a photographer, while Alex had a background in childcare and most recently worked in a children’s centre. They both decided that they wanted a change of direction and the opportunity to work together in an environment that allowed them to make the most of their respective skills. After looking at a number of options, they decided that Dream Doors was the right opportunity for them, not only providing an interesting and stimulating workplace, but with two children, also a good work/life balance.
“I’ve been a photographer for much of my working life, and while I knew I wanted a change, I also knew that I wanted to keep being my own boss,” said Martin Smith. “Dream Doors gives me the best of both worlds – I have the support of a trusted and established kitchen makeover retailer but still get to make my own decisions and remain in charge.”
