Resettlement Awards and John Kirk final

Franchisee is flying high with award shortlisting following Royal Air Force career. Home Instead Senior Care’s Swindon & Vale of White Horse franchisee and former RAF officer has been shortlisted for a prestigious award that celebrates the achievements of Service Leavers.

John Kirk enjoyed a successful career in the Royal Air Force serving for 23 years – initially for five years as an Air Traffic Control Officer with the balance as an officer in the RAF Regiment.

A Home Instead franchisee for four years, having retired from the forces at the rank of Wing Commander, John has been shortlisted in the Resettlement Awards 2016, in the Service Leaver Franchisee of the Year category.

The annual awards, exist to celebrate the achievements of service leavers who successfully progress through the transition from life in the Armed Forces to life as a civilian.

John, a father-of-two, believes his forces background put him in solid stead for a new future steering a successful business opportunity in franchising as well as learning valuable ‘life lessons’ along the way.

image descriptionHumbled to be shortlisted, John said: “In the Armed Forces you learn to follow successful processes but in every serviceman or woman there is also the ability to show that spark of initiative – an entrepreneurial spirit if you like.

“Franchising provides sufficient structure along with proven systems and processes for an ex-serviceman or woman to feel in familiar territory. The ability to follow a process and show initiative along with strong leadership and people management skills make ex-Armed Forces people just like myself ideal franchisees.”

Today, John’s franchise provider care and companionship to 122 clients and as a local employer of choice he is proud to employ 73 CAREGivers.

The awards are in association with Pathfinder International Magazine, which provides information for personnel leaving the Armed Forces in search of employment, and take place on November 2nd in Manchester.
