Domino's does the double at Industry Awards
The world's leading pizza delivery firm, Domino's Pizza, has been named Chain Pizza Delivery Operator of the Year at the Pizza Pasta and Italian Food Association (PAPA) Awards for the second time. The Overall Operator of the Year title was presented to Domino's Chief Executive Stephen Hemsley as a Lifetime Achievement award.
The 18th annual PAPA awards, which recognise excellence in all aspects of pizza, pasta and Italian food making and retailing, were presented at a special gala dinner at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on 2nd November 2006.
Domino's received the Pizza Delivery Chain Award in recognition of its success in driving the delivery sector. The judges gave the accolade to Domino's for setting a high standard in all aspects of its operations from customer service to food quality and delivery. The company was also crowned Overall Operator of the Year in an award recognising the contribution that Stephen Hemsley has made to the industry.
Stephen Hemsley, comments: "On behalf of Domino's I am delighted to accept these awards. At Domino's we are committed to delivering high standards of product, service, image and safety and we take great pride in how our strong performance reflects positively on the pizza delivery industry as a whole."
Jim Winship, Director of the Pizza Pasta & Italian Food Association comments: "As the largest of the pizza delivery chains, Domino's continues to drive the market and the judges felt that they deserved recognition for their consistent and focused approach in setting a lead that others continue to strive to follow. The judges also felt that Stephen Hemsley's work in continuing to drive the brand and set such a lead for the industry merited recognition through the presentation of the Overall Operator of the Year Award."
The judging panel was made up of leading figures from companies within the industry and supervised by the Management Committee of The Pizza Pasta & Italian Food Association with support from industry experts.
