New HIIT exercise studio Trib3 opens in Southampton
A FORMER finance worker has swapped funds for fitness and opened a boutique exercise studio in the heart of Southampton.
Tom Hampton, 38, worked in corporate FX advisory before pursuing his love of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and opening his own studio.
Trib3 Southampton, located at 22 Cumberland Place, officially opened its doors to the public on January 15.
The studio focuses on high-intensity interval training in a studio full of changing, vibrant lighting and pumping music which guides people through their three-step workout on the treadmill, resistance zone and Air Bikes.
Tom said: "I worked in finance for 15 years and I started doing HIIT training about four or five years ago and I was hooked. I became addicted to it, and I love it.
"I was looking to do something more entrepreneurial in my life and looking for a way for my wife and I to move down to the south coast, and I thought a business would be quite a good idea.
"I went to the International Franchise Show and found Trib3 and it was similar to the idea I had in my head.
"The thought of having that level of support and backing when I’ve never worked in fitness or gyms before was great. For me, it was key to have that level of experience behind me."
Tom's plans were put on hold when the country when into lockdown in March 2020 but he is pleased the gym is finally open in the city.
Tom said: "I think we are the only boutique HIIT studio here. When we look at the way the fitness industry is going, it has been moving away from old school style gyms.
"The younger generation like to buy an experience – it’s not just about picking up some weights, it’s about making it a great experience from the moment you walk into the moment you walk out.
"I would like for this to really grown and become a keystone in the community. The response has been fantastic and it’s getting busier and busier every day."
