The Berlin-street-food brand, Döner Shack, will officially open its new restaurant in Highcross, Leicester on Saturday, 11th June, offering free kebabs for one day only, to celebrate its arrival. The launch of the modern and contemporary flagship site is situated in the heart of the city centre and follows the success of sister locations in Manchester Arndale and Leeds Trinity Centre.

Döner Shack dishes up a new generation of street food in its latest 110-seater restaurant, where diners can also enjoy an outside eating area. It will be open for all day dining, take-away, delivery and click & collect. Located next to John Lewis, in St Peter’s Square, visitors will be able to grab a free kebab on Friday, 10th June between 12pm and 4pm and get a taste of the flavourful and convenient food concept that will fit perfectly in the city’s surroundings.

“Coming from humble beginnings, we are evolving into a multi-site business with big plans for the future and we feel incredibly excited to introduce Leicester to our exceptional kebabs, giving locals the chance to taste the difference for themselves. After Leeds and Manchester, Leicester seemed the obvious choice to open our next restaurant. As well as being a vibrant and incredibly charming city, it has the most diverse and distinctive communities in the UK, and we’re thrilled to be part of it. Leicester is the perfect fit for our fresh and tasty brand,” said Sanjeev Sanghera, co-founder and managing director of Döner Shack.

Looking to challenge the status quo of kebabs in Leicester by serving unrivalled and ethically sourced ingredients with convenience and speed, Döner Shack offers customers authentic kebabs using freshly baked traditional Pidas in its bakery with home-made signature sauces and a choice of salads. Also on the menu is halloumi and falafel, vegan schnitzel and currywurst, all priced between £6-£9, with a selection of milkshakes and German soft drinks on the menu. A children’s menu is also available.

“At Döner Shack, we believe that people shouldn’t have to compromise when it comes to quality, taste or dining experience. This is why we have worked tirelessly to perfect each of these elements ahead of our opening, bringing a new taste sensation to the city. Increasingly, our customers want to know where their food is coming from and the ethical impact it has on the environment and labour around the world.

“We source only the best quality products and only serve ethically sourced ingredients to ensure there is something for every taste and type of diet on our menu. Our German-inspired menu has taken years to perfect – from our high-quality kebabs, which contain up to 85% leaner meat than a regular kebab with no artificial fillers or excessive oils, to organic and gluten-free chicken thighs in the shawarma – all of which are halal. It’s only once we’re happy and confident that we can provide the best customer experience that we open the doors to our restaurants,” explained Sanjeev.

The launch will kickstart Doner Shack’s fundraising for local charity, Cash for Kids Midlands, where they will be raising money to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.
