MIKE WINS MAJOR AWARD FOR GROWING GRASS AND BUSINESS

Lawncare expert Mike Simmonds doesn’t let the grass grow under his feet when it comes to business – and his determination to ensure the other man’s grass is always greener has landed him a major industry award.

Mike, owner of TruGreen in Gloucestershire, has won a prestigious Great British Franchisee Award from whichfranchise.com, putting him among the elite of the franchise world.

The award recognises the effort he’s put into developing his business from a one-man operation five years ago into a slick, professional operation that employs five people and turns over a quarter of a million pounds a year.

Mike, a former business development expert, set out to gain a thousand customers within 10 years, and says he’s well on the way to achieving that.

“The turnover and profit of the business have increased year on year, even during the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns,” says Mike.

“We all work on a level playing field here, so no one team member is finished for the day until we’re all finished.

“Being part of a growing and aspirational franchise is important to the business. We’re lucky to benefit from a constant influx of new knowledge, skills and experience gained from both the franchisor and fellow franchisees.

“Ever since I started, I’ve been a member of TruGreen’s Ideas Review Council, working on the interface between franchisor and franchisee to continue to improve and develop both parties.”
