Cymphony becomes industry's first Carbon Neutral organisation
The climate crisis doesn’t just affect all businesses; it affects every single individual on the planet. Having pledged to tackle the issue head-on, specialist franchise supplier, Cymphony, has been certified Carbon Neutral – a first for the sector.
After a rigorous audit process with Carbon Footprint Ltd, a leading carbon management agency, Cymphony was awarded ‘net zero’ status, without the need for any offsetting. This truly inspiring feat was achieved through a combination of initiatives. These ranged from only purchasing energy from renewable sources through to sustained remote working and reduced travel. The business has also been decreasing its energy consumption since 2020 by installing motion-sensor lights, minimising single-use plastics and operating a paperless office policy.
Stuart Fowler, Environmental Consultant at Carbon Footprint Ltd, praised the impact that Cymphony’s actions have and the example being set for other organisations: “We are delighted to have been partnered with Cymphony since 2021 to support their carbon management programme. Headed up by renowned franchise professional Tim Morris, Cymphony offers lead management and inbound communications services to some of the UK’s largest franchisors. As a certified Carbon Neutral supplier, franchisors can now leverage Cymphony’s position to support their own net-zero ambitions and eco credentials – a key consideration that is increasingly important to prospects, customers and staff alike.
“Cymphony is the first company in our sector of outsourced inbound communications and lead management services to have achieved Carbon Neutral status,” said Managing Director, Tim. “Our team are incredibly proud of what they have done. But we have absolutely no intentions of resting on our laurels, and plan to become Carbon Positive by the end of 2023. There are very few companies who can claim this accolade.”
The Cymphony team are now in the process of ‘offsetting’, a process by which organisations can compensate for their emissions by funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving both locally and in other parts of the world.
“We’re investing in initiatives in our local community of Crewe, where the Cymphony offices are located, and also further afield such as borehole regeneration in Uganda and efficient cooking and heating projects in China,” explained Tim. “We’ve pulled together an internal team, led by our Head of Finance, Elaine Farrington, and they are charged with identifying areas for improvement and continuing to educate staff to ensure they are aware of how their actions increase their own personal footprints. In this matter, quite literally, every little helps, and we must all be doing our bit to preserve the future of our world. As the saying goes, there is no planet B.”
