Celebrating the families building their futures together

InXpress-Celebrating-Families.jpg

According to legend, in the 1930s, a young American boy asked his parents why Mother’s Day and Father’s Day were celebrated, but not Sons & Daughters’ Day. And so, we have the origins of National Sons & Daughters’ Day, celebrated on August 11th. It’s a day when families aspire to spend time together, enjoying each other’s’ company.

However, for some of our InXpress UK franchisees, every day is a day for family. This is because parents are being joined by their children, to work together, building their own family businesses. We even have one franchise partner, whose mum has recently joined her in the business. This all reflects how InXpress started, in the first place! So, we know that the family which builds together creates memories which will bring a smile to their faces for a lifetime.

Working with your family can be rewarding!

When you get on with your family, there is something special about being able to work with them. When you’re building a business together, for the mutual benefit of your future, it can be an incredibly rewarding experience.

As Chloe Vant-Abbott, who works alongside her brother, David, and parents, Stuart & Terrie, at InXpress Cambridge, says:

“Working with my family has been a blessing. We started from the ground and have paved the most incredible journey for ourselves. We’re all passionate, with the same common goal, so our work ethic is incredibly proactive. As a result, we’ve been able to achieve what we’d previously only dreamt of, buy cars that actually start, and go on holidays that give us the R&R we really need.

“However, our journey hasn’t always been smooth, but we’re committed and each of us has a clear understanding of our WHY! This has enabled our company to grow from humble beginnings to a team of seven, and we’re actively recruiting too. My parents, Stuart & Terrie, are the most generous employers! They give us the time, space and incentives to achieve what we need, without compromising on our family lives. With this comes a culture of giving back and working hard as we create a respectful and appreciative relationship.”

Working with your family is like having extra time together!

Walt Disney once said, "A man should never neglect his family for business." So, in a world where time is an asset and being with others is often neglected, working with your family gives you extra time to be with each other. Something our franchisees value.

Paul Wright from the InXpress Preston franchise said “Sally and I started our business in 2013, and it’s the best thing we ever did. Our son, Jacob, joined us six years ago and our daughter, Emily, followed two years ago. Not only do we all make a living from the business, but it’s great working with each other. Jacob and Emily both live in their own homes, so seeing each other, almost daily, is a great way us to catch up! Also, whenever Sally and I are out of the office, we know the business is in great hands. It all works perfectly for us!!”

Could you see your family working together?

If so, starting a new business together, where each person plays to their strengths, maybe the right direction to go in.
