The Metro Plumb franchise brand has expanded in the East Midlands with the launch of its Nottingham franchise territory following its acquisition by the company’s youngest ever franchise owner, Harry Thompson, aged 24.

Harry, from Newark-on-Trent, joins a national network of domestic and commercial plumbing specialists; part of Franchise Brands plc which also owns sister franchise Metro Rod.

Metro Plumb currently operates from over 30 locations across the UK.

Speaking about the growth of the network, Peter Molloy, Managing Director of Franchise Brand’s Water and Waste Division, “It’s fantastic to be able to support someone like Harry to start their business career as part of our franchise.

“There is a huge demand for plumbers from both the commercial and domestic markets and we need more people to come into the trade.

“The beauty of doing it through a franchise is that the systems and processes are all in place, as is the brand and marketing. Our franchise owners are able to hit the ground running.”

Harry attended the Sir William Robertson Academy in Lincoln and went on to complete an apprenticeship in plumbing at Grantham College. After completing his apprenticeship, Harry worked for local plumbing companies before joining the Metro Rod and Metro Plumb network of franchisees, working for Metro Rod (Lincolnshire & Peterborough).

He reports that of the 200 students in his year, only four or five actually went into the trade.

Harry is looking to build up his Nottingham business so he can expand into new areas in the future.
