After years of living in Scotland yet working in London, Robin Cockburn was ready for a change in career direction. It was time to take control and start a business for himself. Having initially set up his own sales consultancy business, he soon realised that whilst he understood the consultancy side of it, he was struggling with the business model itself. Jane Perry, along with her husband John, have been running their Bluebird Care franchise in Edinburgh since 2008. After being made redundant for the fourth time from her job in the finance industry, Jane knew that a change of career was needed. Having had some negative experiences when looking for help for her terminally ill grandmother, Jane was passionate about making a difference in the care industry. She also knew the demand was there for a good care company, one that valued their customers, and so it was an industry with vast potential for those wanting to make a career from it.
